Christmas Mani

Using Wet N' Wild Silvivor as the base.  The polish has good consistency, but the brush was very stiff.  I used 3 coats.  The purple stripes are my new Milani Purple Gleam.  2 coats of that one.  I like the color...though it really needs a good top coat to make the purple pop.  Used 2 coats of Seche.

The reindeer is actually acryllic paint.  And a heart sticker as the nose.  :)

And it's only 4 days to the giveaway(s)!!!

Reindeer!!

How cute are these!?!  Had to share!

Second Application of imPRESS Nails

This time, I used the Joy Ride nails (pictured above).  Unfortunately, my camera wasn't working.  :(

I only kept these on for about 1 day.  I do a LOT of typing every day and I found that the nails moved while I was typing (pushed back into my cuticle).  Not a lot.  Just enough for me to feel it.  For some wearers, that may not be an issue.

My review is the same as below.  I will definitely wear these for nights out or other special occasions.  I just think they won't work as well for me as the glue-on kind for day-to-day activities.  I'm definitely a creature of habit and the glue makes me feel more secure.

Original review from 12/16/11:  I noticed right away that the sizes do run smaller than the other nails in the Broadway line that I use (10 Minute French).  The size numbers on the under side of the nail are a bit hard to read due to the tabs on the nails.  Aside from the difference in sizing, they are very easy to apply.  I encourage you to watch the video on applying: imPRESS tutorial.

I found myself applying pressure to them frequently even after the first few hours I had them on.  A couple of the nails felt "wiggly" and I didn't want one popping off when I was out.  And I waited over 24 hours after applying before I showered.  Unfortunately, 2 of the nails didn't survive.  I decided to remove them all and the ones that stayed on were really on.

Right now, the imPRESS are only in the short length.  I tend to wear the medium, but these were a nice switch.  I really liked the design (Space Cadet) and the hint of sparkle.

This is the first set I tried and I will be applying them again to see if I get the same or different results.

For the first attempt, I would say that these would definitely be great for a night out or for vacation.  Not sure how they would stand up in a work environment where you use your hands a lot (typing, cleaning, etc.).  So I will try another set in a different design...there are, after all 36 different ones to wear!!  Go here to try them on: Try imPRESS

If any of you have tried these, let me know your thoughts!!

Coffee Therapy

Met my good friend for coffee therapy today and she photographed our sparkly nails.

She's got the more traditional red for Christmas.  :)

After we met, I went grocery shopping and one of my nails was a casualty.  Guess that means it's time for a new set and a new color!!  I picked up this little beauty this weekend and can't wait to try it:

And I am hoping to get even more followers by the 25th!

Oh So Sparkly!!

I felt like having long nails this time.  So I got out my trusty box of Kiss nail tips.

I cheat and use them as full cover nails.  I just file them to fit.  And I get these:

My husband calls them "Dragon Claws".  They really are a bit much.  So I trim and file them down to these:

And then I decided to use my new China Glaze polish Loreleis Tiara.  I'm never sure how a glitter polish will be...  Thin and needing lots of coats, or thick and clumpy.  This was perfect!

I used one coat.  It's like a million tiny sapphires and diamonds winking back at me.  I love it!!  I may add something to it later, but for now, I'm happy to just sit and stare at the sparkles.  (no top coat at this time)

I only need a diamond and sapphire tiara of my own to wear with it!  "Dear Santa..."

Liebster Award

I've been nominated for the Liebster Award!

Thank you to Rainbowify Me for nominating me. ♥

"Liebster" is a German word which means dearest or beloved, but it can also mean favourite. The idea of the Liebster award is that it is given to bloggers who have less than 200 followers, all in the spirit of fostering new connections and to bring attention to these brilliant blogs!

The rules are :

  • Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you
  • Reveal the five blogs you have chosen and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog
  • Copy and paste the award onto your blog
  • Request that people you have sent the award to forward it on to their favorite bloggers

I nominate:

You are all doing a great job and inspire me to keep going and improve my blog!!

Mission 5!

Broadway Nails mission 5: imPRESS press-on manicure.

I promised a no-holds-barred review, so here we go!
First, I really like the nail polish bottle package.  It's cute, closeable, portable and just fun.  Inside the box is the "bottle" and the prep pad (behind the pink card thingy).

I noticed right away that the sizes do run smaller than the other nails in the Broadway line that I use (10 Minute French).  The size numbers on the under side of the nail are a bit hard to read due to the tabs on the nails.  Aside from the difference in sizing, they are very easy to apply.  I encourage you to watch the video on applying: imPRESS tutorial.

Holiday Party

Friday was the holiday party for my husband's company.  It was a 60s themed shindig and was airline based like the show "Pan Am".  Here's a few photos from the festivities...
Each attendee got their own set of wings.  Stewardesses greeted us and we got to walk "into the plane" at the entrance of the party area.

And here we are.  Most of the people there were dressed in "Mad Men" type attire, but we went the hippie route.
This was my selection for manicure for the night.  As always, Broadway Nails.  :)  With Wet N' Wild black as the base and 2 coats of Revlon's Slipper is the glitter polish on top.

What a Day!!

It started out kinda crappy with the battery dying in my car.  A trip to the mechanic and lightening my wallet by more than I care to talk about got the problem resolved.

On the bright side, I got my mission packet from Broadway Nails.  I received Home Wrecker and Space Cadet.  They both look really cool.

I will post here when I try them out!

I was also naughty and picked up a couple of bottles of polish.  Sally Beauty has China Glaze colors 2 for $10 right now.

On the left is Blue Year's Eve from the Let It Snow collection and the right is Loreleis Tiara from the Eye Candy collection.  I absolutely blame this purchase on Amber at My Nail Graffiti because she posted about these colors and I fell in love with them.

AAANNNNDDDD....I've been working on the giveaway gifts.  Yes, there will be at least 2 winners!  So please round up the last 7 people so I can meet the 25 followers by the 25th goal!
